Famotidine
Indications/Uses
Short-term treatment of active duodenal ulcer. Maintenance therapy for duodenal ulcer patients. Treatment of pathological hypersecretory conditions (Zollinger-Ellison syndrome).
Dosage/Direction for Use
Duodenal ulcer Acute therapy: 40 mg once daily at bedtime or 20 mg twice daily for 4 wk. Maintenance: 20 mg once daily at bedtime.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Special Precautions
Severe renal insufficiency. Liver dysfunction.
Adverse Reactions
Constipation, diarrhoea, vomiting, nausea; headache, dizziness; thrombocytopenia, arthralgia, anorexia.
