Uncomplicated & complicated infections caused by ciprofloxacin-sensitive pathogens. Infections of the resp tract except pneumonia due to Pneumococcus, GUT except prostatitis, infections of the GIT or biliary tract including typhoid fever, bones & joints, skin & soft tissues. Gonorrheal urethritis & cervicitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Usually 125-750 mg twice daily. Acute gonorrhoea 250 mg as single dose. UTI Mild to moderate: 250 mg twice daily. Severe: 500 mg twice daily. GIT infections 500 mg twice daily. Resp tract, bone & joint, skin & soft tissue infections Mild to moderate: 500 mg twice daily. Severe: 750 mg twice daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ meals to minimise GI discomfort. Do not take w/ antacids, Fe or dairy products.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn & juveniles before the end of growth phase.
