Palonosetron
Indications/Uses
Prevention of acute nausea & vomiting associated w/ moderately & highly emetogenic cancer chemotherapy. Prevention of post-op nausea & vomiting (PONV) for up to 24 hr following surgery.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 0.25 mg as a single IV bolus (over 30 sec) approx 30 min before start of chemotherapy.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Monitor history of constipation or signs of subacute intestinal obstruction following administration as large bowel transit time may be increased. Repeated dosing w/in 7 day interval is not recommended. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, dizziness, constipation, diarrhea.
