Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take before breakfast w/ a glass of water. Do not chew.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ central venous catheters & postsurgical patients, especially after colon & oral surgery (including dental extraction). Pancreatic dysfunction. Severely immunocompromised & immunosuppressed patients including chemotherapeutic & allograft patients. Patients suffering from serious infectious diseases. Childn <3 yr w/ short bowel syndrome. D-lactic acidosis is a concern for infants w/ short-bowel syndrome. Severe bloody acute diarrhea, especially infants & elderly. Pregnancy.
