Per 1,000 mL Amino acid 5% (BCAA 50%), vit B6, L-isoleucine 8.45 g, L-leucine 9.46 g, L-valine 7.09 g, L-arginine 15 g, L-ornithine-L-aspartate 10 g, L-malic acid 7 g, xylitol 50 g, pyridoxine HCl 0.12 g, nicotinamide 0.08 g, Na acetate 1.83 g, NaCl 1.986 g, Mg sulfate 0.738 g, NaOH 0.898 g. Osmolarity: 850 mosm. Energy (N+NPC): 400 kCal
Indications/Uses
All severe cases of hepatic insufficiency w/ exogenous hepatic precoma or coma eg, in patients w/ liver cirrhosis after shunt operation & in cases of poisoning.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 1,000-1,500 mL/day for IV infusion, depending on severity. Infusion rate over 24 hr: 40-60 mL/hr, approx 15-20 drops/min.
Contraindications
Severe renal insufficiency, metabolic anomalies due to amino acid contents, high or rapid increase in residual nitrogen in blood.
Special Precautions
Monitor K balance in patients whom coma is at least partially induced by K deficiency. Soln w/ amino acid pattern especially adapted for parenteral nutrition of patients w/ liver disease should be substituted together w/ a simultaneous supply of energy.
Adverse Reactions
Febrile response, infection at inj site, venous thrombosis or phlebitis extending from inj site, extravasation & hypervolemia.
