Famotidine
Indications/Uses
Duodenal ulcer; Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, multiple endocrine adenomas.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Duodenal ulcer Acute therapy: 40 mg once daily at bedtime or 20 mg twice daily. Maintenance therapy: 20 mg once daily at bedtime. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, multiple endocrine adenomas Initially 20 mg 4 times daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Special Precautions
Reduced dose in severe renal disorders. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Fever, skin eruption, palpebral edema due to allergy or hypersensitivity, bleeding or bruising, tachycardia, thrombocytopenia, arthralgia, headache, dizziness, constipation, diarrhea, nausea.
Drug Interactions
Antacids, ketoconazole, theophylline, warfarin, diazepam.
