1 vial daily SC in alternating inj site. May increase FSH dose by 37.5-75 IV after 7-14 day. May extend duration of stimulation in any 1 cycle to up to 5 wk. When an optimal response is obtained, a single inj of 5,000-10,000 IU hCG should be administered 24-48 hr after the last Pergoveris inj. Patient is recommended to have coitus on the day of & on the day following hCG administration. Alternately, intrauterine insemination may be performed.
Hypersensitivity. Hypothalamus & pituitary gland tumours, ovarian enlargement or cyst not due to polycystic ovarian disease, gynaecological haemorrhages of unknown aetiology & ovarian, uterine or mammary carcinoma. Primary ovarian failure, sexual organ malformations & fibroid tumours of the uterus incompatible w/ pregnancy. Pregnancy & lactation.
Regular monitoring of ovarian response. Patients w/ porphyria or family history of porphyria. DM, hypothyroidism, adrenocortical deficiency, hyperprolactinemia & pituitary or hypothalmic tumours. Possible excessive oestrogen response & multiple follicular development. Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). Multiple pregnancies, miscarriage or abortion, ectopic pregnancy on patients w/ history of tubal disease, benign & malignant ovarian & other reproductive system neoplasms. Recent or ongoing thromboembolic disease or recognized risk factor for thromboembolic events.
Headache, ovarian cysts, mild to severe inj site reactions. Somnolence, abdominal pain & GI disturbances, mild or moderate OHSS, breast pain, pelvic pain.
