Sucralfate
Indications/Uses
Duodenal & gastric ulcer.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 2 measuring spoon (10 mL), 4 times daily 1 hr before meals & at bedtime. Treatment should be continued, unless the result of endoscopic exam or x-rays have shown healing.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Antacids may be given w/in ½ hr before or after Pepco administration if needed. Cimetidine, ciprofloxacin, digoxin, ketoconazole, norfloxacin, phenytoin, ranitidine, tetracycline & theophylline should be taken w/in 2 hr after administration. Patients w/ chronic kidney failure & dialysis patients. Pregnancy. Nursing mothers. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Constipation & dry mouth. Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, flatulence, pruritus, rash, drowsiness, dizziness, back pain & headache.
Drug Interactions
May reduce the absorption or bioavailability of cimetidine, ciprofloxacin, digoxin, ketoconazole, norfloxacin, phenytoin, ranitidine, tetracycline & theophylline.
