Pantoprazole
Indications/Uses
Moderate to severe reflux esophagitis, pathological hypersecretory conditions related to Zollinger-Ellison syndrome or other malignancy.
Dosage/Direction for Use
GERD associated w/ history of erosive esophagitis Adult 40 mg by IV infusion once daily for 7-10 days. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome Adult 80 mg 12 hrly.
Special Precautions
Not for mild GI disturbances or nervous dyspepsia. Renal impairment; malignant gastric ulcer or esophageal malignancy. Reduce dose in severe hepatic impairment; increased liver enzyme (discontinue). Pregnancy & lactation. Childn. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Leucopenia, thrombocytopenia; upper abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, flatulence, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth; thrombophlebitis at inj site, peripheral edema; severe liver cell damage; anaphylactic reaction; increased liver enzyme, triglycerides & body temp; arthralgia, myalgia; headache, dizziness, visual disturbances; depression; interstitial nephritis; rash, pruritus, urticaria, angioedema, SJS, erythema multiforme, photosensitivity.
Drug Interactions
Warfarin may increase INR & prothrombin time.
