Paracetamol
Indications/Uses
Relief of pain eg, headache, toothache, after tooth extraction, muscular pain. Fever due to immunization.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Tab Adult 1-2 tab, childn 6-12 yr ½-1 tab. To be given 3-4 times daily. Syr Childn 6-12 yr 10-20 mL; 1-5 yr 5-10 mL; <1 yr 2.5-5 mL. To be given 3 times daily. Oral drops Childn 1-2 yr 0.6-1.2 mL; <1 yr 0.6 mL. To be given 3-4 times daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Severe liver dysfunction.
Special Precautions
Kidney disease, alcohol consumption.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, diaphoresis, pallor & abdominal pain. Hepatic impairment (prolonged use & high dose).
Drug Interactions
Alcohol, vasopressin, polysorbates, antihypertensives, propantheline, metoclopramide.
