Indications/Uses
Unconsciousness due to brain damage, head injury or brain surgery & cerebral infarction. Accelerates rehabilitation of upper extremities in apoplectic hemiplegia patients. Patients w/ relatively mild lower extremities paralysis w/in 1 yr & undergoing rehabilitation & receiving standard oral treatment.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Unconsciousness due to head injury or brain surgery 100-500 mg IV drip infusion or inj 1-2 times daily. Unconsciousness in acute cerebral infarction 1 g IV once daily for 2 wk. Post-apoplectic hemiplegia 1 g IV once daily for 4 wk. Continue treatment for 4 wk if tendency of recovery occurs.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Special Precautions
Should be given concomitantly w/ intracranial pressure-relieving drugs or anti-hemorrhagia in acute & emergency conditions. Keep body temp low. IV administration should be done very slowly.
Adverse Reactions
Rash, insomnia, headache, dizziness, seizure, nausea, anorexia, liver function tests abnormalities, diplopia, warm sensation, transient BP change, malaise.
