Acetylcysteine
Indications/Uses
Mucolytic agents for acute & chronic bronchial disease, lung disease w/ thick mucous eg, in chronic, acute & acute recurrent bronchitis, pulmonary emphysema, mucovicidosis, bronchiectasis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >14 yr 1 cap 2-3 times dialy. Childn 6-14 yr 1 cap 2 times daily. Childn 6-14 yr Mucovicidosis 1 cap 3 times daily.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ asthma should be closely monitored during treatment. Treatment should be discontinued if bronchospasm occur. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <6 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Psoriasis, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomatitis, dizziness, tinnitus. Itching, urticaria, cutaneus eruption (rash, exanthema), bronchospasm, palpitation, hypotension.
Drug Interactions
Antitussive or other cough suppressants. Concomitant use w/ tetracycline should be administered separately w/ at least 2 hr interval. Nitroglycerine.
