Fosfomycin trometamol
Indications/Uses
Treatment of acute, uncomplicated cystitis in women & female adolescent. Peri-op antibiotic prophylaxis for transrectal prostate biopsy in adult man.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Treatment of acute uncomplicated cystitis in women & female adolescent (>12 yr) 3 g as single dose. Peri-op antibiotic prophylaxis for transrectal prostate biopsy 3 g administered 3 hr prior to the procedure.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Dissolve in 50-75 mL of water.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Impaired renal function (CrCl <80 mL/min).
Special Precautions
Hypersensitivity, Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea, persistent infections. Male patients. Childn <12 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Diarrhea, headache, vaginitis, nausea, rhinitis, back pain, dysmenorrhea, pharyngitis, dizziness, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, asthenia & rash.
