Isosorbide mononitrate
Indications/Uses
Prevention & treatment of angina pectoris due to CAD.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Initially 5 mg, increasing to 10 mg by 2nd or 3rd day of therapy. Maintenance: 1 tab twice daily.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach.
Contraindications
Acute MI, severe hypotension, shock, hypovolemia, cerebral trauma, anemia.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, flushing, dizziness, postural hypotension, tachycardia, nausea, vomiting.
Drug Interactions
Alcohol may enhance vasodilation. Orthostatic hypotension may occur w/ Ca-channel blockers, antihypertensives, phenothiazines & TCAs.
