Tadalafil
Indications/Uses
Erectile dysfunction.
Dosage/Direction for Use
10 mg once daily, prior to sexual intercourse. Doses may be increased to 20 mg.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Allergy. Concomitant use w/ organic nitrate or nitric oxide eg, amyl nitrate. Have a serious heart disease or had a heart attack in the past 90 days. Recent stroke in the past 6 mth. Uncontrolled hypotension or HTN. A history of visual loss due to non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAN/ON).
Special Precautions
Patients w/ sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, leukemia, penile deformity, serious liver disease serious kidney problems. Patients w/ a history of pelvic surgery or radical non-nerve-sparing prostatectomy. Discontinue treatment if visual impairment or visual loss occurs. Not indicated for women, childn & adolescent <18 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Allergic reactions, chest pain, prolonged erection, abrupt visual loss. Headache, back pain, muscle pain, arm & leg pain, flushing, dyspnea, GI disturbances, reflux. Headache, abdominal pain, blurred vision, increased sweating, penile bleeding, blood in seminal fluid, blood in urine, palpitation, tachycardia, HTN, hypotension, epistaxis, tinnitus. Rarely, syncope, seizure & memory loss, swollen eyelids, red eye, hearing loss, itching.
Drug Interactions
α-blocker, antihypertensive agents, 4α reductase inhibitor, ketoconazole, PI, phenobarb, phenytoin, carbamazepine, rifampicin, erythromycin, clarithromycin, itraconazole, other erectile dysfunction drugs. Alcohol.
