Clindamycin HCl
Indications/Uses
Severe resp tract, skin & soft tissue, intra-abdominal, gynaecological, bone & joint infections; septicaemia.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Serious infection 150-300 mg 6 hrly. More severe infection 300-450 mg 6 hrly. Childn 3-6 mg/kg 6 hrly. β-haemolytic Strep infections Duration of therapy: Min 10 days.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Swallow whole w/ a full glass of water & in an upright position.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. URTI.
Special Precautions
Colitis, liver or kidney dysfunction, atopic disorders. Lactation. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Colitis related to antibiotics use, abdominal pain & discomfort, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, maculopapular rash, urticaria, general skin rash, SJS, anaphylaxis, jaundice, abnormal LFT, impaired kidney function, neutropenia, eosinophilia, agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia, polyarthritis, CV disorders, pruritus, vaginitis, exfoliative dermatitis, vesicobulous dermatitis.
Drug Interactions
Neuromuscular-blocking agents, erythromycin.
