Tropicamide
Indications/Uses
Mydriasis & cycloplegia for diagnostic procedures.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 2 drops repeated in 5 min. If necessary instill 1-2 drops after 30 min. Childn As directed by the physician.
Contraindications
Primary glaucoma or tendency toward glaucoma. Patients on contact lenses.
Special Precautions
Protect eyes in bright illumination during dilation. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Infants, childn. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Increased IOP; psychotic reactions, behavioral disturbances, cardioresp collapse in childn & some adults; transient stinging, dryness of mouth, blurred vision, photophobia w/ or w/o corneal staining, tachycardia, headache, parasympathetic stimulation, allergic reaction.
Drug Interactions
Amantadine, some antihistamines, butyrophenones, phenothiazines & TCAs.
