Short-term treatment of anxiety or anxiety-related depression.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Anxiety 2-3 mg daily in 2-3 divided doses. Insomnia related w/ anxiety or stress in non permanent condition 2-4 mg as single dose. Elderly, debilitated patient 2-4 mg daily in divided dose. Insomnia due to anxiety or transient situational stress 1-2 mg as single dose. Pre-surgical med 2-4 mg the night before surgery &/or 1-2 hr prior to surgery.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Narrow-angle glaucoma; severe resp insufficiency; myasthenia gravis; sleep apnoea syndrome.
Special Precautions
Chronic pulmonary insufficiency; hepatic & renal function disorders. Operate machinery or motor vehicles. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <12 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Sedation followed by dizziness, weakness & unsteadiness; disorientation; depression; nausea; headache; sleep disturbance; agitation; dermatology symptoms; blurred vision; reduction of blood tension; amnesia; temporary memory disorder.
