Contents
Per 2.5 mL Ipratropium Br 0.5 mg, salbutamol 2.5 mg
Indications/Uses
Bronchospasm caused by obstructive pulmonary disease & acute asthma attacks in patients w/ >1 bronchodilator treatment.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Acute attack 1 unit dose of ampoule. May increase to 2 doses of ampoule in severe cases. Medication 1 unit dose of ampoule 3-4 times daily.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to ipratropium Br, salbutamol, atropine & derivatives. Hypertrophy obstruction cardiomyopathy, tachyarrhythmias.
Special Precautions
Hypersensitivity reactions eg, urticaria, angioedema, skin rashes, bronchospasm & oropharyngeal edema.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, throat irritation, cough, dry mouth, intestinal motility disorders eg, constipation, diarrhea & vomiting, nausea & dizziness.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant administration w/ xanthine derivatives & other β-adrenegics & anticholinergics may increase side effects. Hypokalemia caused by β-agonists can be aggravated w/ concomitant administration of xanthine, glucocorticosteroid & diuretic derivatives. Hypokalemia can increase susceptibility to arrhythmias in patients who have been treated w/ digoxin. Decreased bronchodilation effects can occur w/ co-administration of β-blockers. Inhalation of halogenated hydrocarbon anesth eg, halothane, trichlorethylene & enflurane can increase susceptibility to β-agonists CV effects.
