Cefditoren pivoxil
Indications/Uses
Community-acquired pneumonia. Acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis. Pharyngotonsillitis. Acute sinusitis. Uncomplicated skin & soft structure infections.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Community-acquired pneumonia 400 mg twice daily for 14 days. Acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis 400 mg twice daily for 10 days. Pharyngotonsillitis 200 mg twice daily for 10 days. Acute sinusitis 200 mg twice daily for 10 days. Uncomplicated skin & soft structure infections 200 mg twice daily for 10 days.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
History of hypersensitivity to penicillins or other cephem antibiotics. Patients w/ personal or familial predisposition to allergic reactions eg, bronchial asthma, rash or urticaria; poor oral food intake or who are receiving parenteral alimentation & in poor general health. Severe renal disorder. Pregnancy & lactation. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Hypersensitivity reaction, GI disturbances, hematologic changes, raised hepatic enzyme levels. Increased BUN, serum creatinine & proteinuria.
