Cefadroxil
Indications/Uses
Upper & lower resp tract, skin & soft tissue infections, UTI, septic arthritis, osteomyelitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 1-2 g daily as a single dose or 2 divided doses. Childn 30 mg/kg daily as a single dose or 2 divided doses. Treatment should be continued for at least 48-72 hr after signs of infection disappear. For infection caused by Streptococcus β-hemoliticus min duration of therapy: 10 days. Dose interval: Kidney failure CrCl 25-50 mL/min 12 hr, CrCl 10-25 mL/min 24 hr, CrCl 0-10 mL/min 36 hr.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Hypersensitivity to penicillin. Prolonged use may cause superinfection. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. Hypersensitivity. Pseudomembranous colitis. Candidiasis, transient neutropenia, transient elevation of transaminases.
Drug Interactions
Bacteriostatic antibiotics, probenecid, aminoglycosides, polymixin B, colistin, high dose of diuretic or potent diuretic; anticoagulants, OCs.
