Lodoz 2.5 Bisoprolol hemifumarate 2.5 mg, hydrochlorothiazide 6.25 mg. Lodoz 5 Bisoprolol hemifumarate 5 mg, hydrochlorothiazide 6.25 mg
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 tab Lodoz 2.5 once daily. If response is inadequate, may increase to 1 tab Lodoz 5 once daily. Maximum dose: 1 tab Lodoz 10 once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Overt cardiac failure, cardiogenic shock, sick sinus syndrome, SA block, 2nd or 3rd degree AV block, bradycardia, asthma & chronic obstructive bronchopneumopathies, untreated pheochromocytoma, Raynaud's disease & peripheral arterial disorders, hypotension, metabolic acidosis, acute MI, Prinzmetal's angina, hypersensitivity to other sulfonamide derivatives, renal failure, coma & precoma hepaticum, severe hypokalemia or hyponatremia. Lactation.
Special Precautions
Abrupt w/drawal in cases of IHD, 1st degree AV block, history of chronic obstructive bronchopathy, a family history of asthma. Increase in airway resistance (discontinue therapy). May mask symptoms of hypoglycemia in diabetics. Peripheral vascular disorders. Patients predisposed to gout or hyperuricemia. Pregnancy. Elderly on digitalis medication, on a low K diet or w/ GI anomalies; using volatile anesth in surgery.
Adverse Reactions
Occasionally, tiredness, depression, dizziness, headache, asthenia, sensation of cold extremities, bradycardia, insomnia, nightmares, GI complaints, muscle & joint ache, perspiration. Rarely, decrease in AV conduction or intensification of existing AV block, exacerbation of heart failure, sudden fall in BP, bronchospasm, aggravation of existing intermittent claudication, paresthesia, various skin manifestations including psoriasis, lacrimation abnormality, hypersensitivity, anaphylactic reactions, electrolyte imbalance, hematological disorders (very rare).
Drug Interactions
Volatile halogenated anesth, theophylline, Ca channel blockers, dihydropyridines, antiarrhythmics, insulin & sulfonamide hypoglycemics, lidocaine, high dose of salicylates, digitalis, hyperkalemic diuretics, ACE inhibitors, TCAs.
