Fluocinolone acetonide
Indications/Uses
Relief of inflammatory & pruritic manifestation of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply thinly on the affected area 2-4 times daily.
Contraindications
Bacterial, fungal or viral primary skin infections, rosacea, acne, peri-oral dermatitis, napkin rash, anogenital pruritus. Childn <2 yr.
Special Precautions
Discontinue treatment if irritation occurs. Avoid contact w/ eye. Systemic absorption of topical corticosteroid may cause reversible hypothalamic pituitary adrenal suppression, cushing's syndrome, hyperglycaemia, glucosuria. Prolonged use may cause superinfection. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Burning, itching, irritation, dry skin, secondary infections, foliculitis, hypertrichosis, hypopigmentation, contact dermatitis, skin maceration, skin atrophy, striae, miliaria.
