Lansoprazole
Indications/Uses
Duodenal & gastric ulcer, erosive oesophagitis, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Duodenal ulcer 30 mg daily for 4 wk. Gastric ulcer 30 mg daily for 8 wk. Erosive oesophagitis 30 mg daily for 8 wk, followed by another 4 wk if necessary. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome 60 mg daily, may be increased to 90-120 mg daily in divided doses.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach.
Special Precautions
Exclude gastric malignancy before treatment. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Diarrhoea, abdominal pain, nausea, constipation, headache, dry mouth, vomiting, flatulence, fatigue, rash, urticaria, pruritus, transient increase in transaminase levels, haematological changes.
Drug Interactions
Theophylline, antacids.
