Zn sulphate monohydrate
Indications/Uses
Adjunct treatment of diarrhea in childn. To be taken w/ oral rehydration salt.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Childn 6 mth-5 yr 10 mL once daily for 10 days even when diarrhea has stopped. Infant 2-6 mth 5 mL once daily for 10 days even when diarrhea has stopped.
Adverse Reactions
Zn toxicity, decreased plasma lipoprotein conc & Cu absorption. Bitter taste, nausea, vomiting & mouth irritation.
Drug Interactions
Fe minerals, Ca, Cu, amino acids (L-hystidine, L-cisteine, L-methionine) may reduce Zn absorption. May reduce the oral absorption of tetracycline & quinolones.
