Levocetirizine diHCl
Indications/Uses
Symptomatic treatment of allergic rhinitis & chronic idiopathic urticaria.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn ≥6 yr 1 tab once daily. Impaired renal function: normal, CrCl >80 mL/min 1 tab once daily; mild, CrCl 50-79 mL/min 1 tab once daily; moderate, CrCl 30-49 mL/min 1 tab once every 2 days; severe, CrCl <30 mL/min 1 tab once daily every 3 days.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to levocetirizine or piperazine derivatives. Patients w/ severe renal impairment CrCl <10 mL/min.
Special Precautions
Concomitant use w/ alcohol. Rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, the Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <6 yr.
Drug Interactions
Decrease rate of absorption w/ theophylline. May have CNS effects w/ alcohol or other CNS depressants.
