Isosorbide dinitrate
Indications/Uses
Treatment & prevention of angina pectoris attacks. Maintenance therapy after MI. Acute MI w/ left ventricular failure. Acute left ventricular failure of other origin w/ impending or existing pulmonary edema. Long-term treatment of CHF (alone or w/ cardiac glycosides & diuretics). Chronic right ventricular failure, chronic cor pulmonale.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Angina pectoris 1 tab sublingually. Prevention of anginal attacks 3-4 tab daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Very low BP & acute circulatory failure, acute MI w/ low-filling pressure, marked anemia, head trauma, cerebral hemorrhage, severe hypotension or hypovolemia.
Special Precautions
Closed-angle glaucoma, hypothyroidism, hypothermia, malnutrition, low circulatory lability. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Headache. Occasionally, cutaneous vasodilation, postural hypotension & dry rashes.
Drug Interactions
Effect may be enhanced by alcohol, sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil.
