Dobutamine HCl
Indications/Uses
Inotropic support in cardiac decompensation due to depressed contractility resulting from organic heart disease or cardiac surgical procedures & in atrial fibrillation w/ rapid ventricular response.
Dosage/Direction for Use
2.5-10 mcg/kg/min as IV infusion.
Contraindications
Idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis.
Special Precautions
Hemodynamic monitoring of patient required.
Adverse Reactions
Increased heart rate, systolic BP, premature ventricular beats.
Drug Interactions
Combination w/ β-blockers will cause predominant α-effects eg, HTN & vasoconstriction. W/ α-blockers, β-effects predominate eg, tachycardia & vasodilatation.
