Per 1,000 mL Na 130 meq, Cl 109 meq, K 4 meq, Ca 2.7 meq, lactate 20 meq, maltose 50 g, (NaCl 6 g, KCl 0.3 g, CaCl 0.2 g, Na lactate 3.1 g, water for inj 1,000 mL). Osmolarity: 412 mOsm. Energy: 200 kCal
Indications/Uses
Provision or correction of decreased extracellular &/or interstitial fluid vol. Cal, electrolytes & water supplementation.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 500-1,000 mL/dose by IV infusion at a rate <0.3 g maltose/kg/hr over 60 min.
Contraindications
Lactacidemia.
Special Precautions
Renal & cardiac failure, severe hepatic disorder, hypertonic dehydration, reduced urine output due to obstructive uropathy.
Adverse Reactions
Anaphylactic shock, hypersensitivity reactions; cerebral, pulmonary & peripheral edema on rapid administration.
Drug Interactions
P- & carbonate-containing drugs.
