Contents
Cyproheptadine HCl
Indications/Uses
Vasomotor rhinitis, pruritus, cold urticaria, dermatographism.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 1-5 tab daily. Max: 0.5 mg/kg/day or 32 mg/day.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ meals to reduce GI discomfort.
Contraindications
Porphyria. Newborn or premature infant.
Special Precautions
Hyperthyroidism, increased IOP, CV disease, history of bronchial asthma. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Drowsiness, dry mouth, disturbed coordination, excitation, restlessness, hysteria, insomnia, convulsions, hallucinations, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, urinary retention, constipation; anorexia, headache, blurred vision.
Drug Interactions
Increased sedative effect w/ alcohol or CNS depressants. Anticholinergic effects prolonged & intensified by MAOIs.
