Description
Each capsule contains ferrous fumarate 360 mg, folic acid 1.5 mg, vitamin B12 15 mcg, ascorbic acid 75 mg, calcium carbonate 200 mg, cholecalciferol 400 IU.
Action
Anemias are very common in pregnant women.
The best response treatment was obtained when iron, folic acid and vitamin B12 were administered to such individuals.
Hemobion contains ferrous fumarate, folic acid and vitamin B12 which are very important for the formation of red blood cells.
Calcium requirements are raised in pregnancy and calcium deficiencies are common in the newborn. Therefore, Hemobion also contains calcium carbonate as a supplement for the pregnant patients. Calcium carbonate is converted into soluble form in the intestine that would be more easily absorbed. Besides, Hemobion contains cholecalciferol to enhance the absorption of calcium from the intestine. Thus, the adequate amounts of calcium are available to fulfill the increased requirement of the fetus and later of the infant.
Ascorbic acid helps maintain iron in the ferrous state which is more easily absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Ascorbic acid also improves body metabolism, ensure the proper growth of bone and teeth. Therefore, it may increase body resistance in debilitated patients.
Indications/Uses
Hematinic preparation for treatment of anemia, which also contains calcium, cholecalciferol and ascorbic acid as supplement.
As vitamin in anemia during pregnancy and lactation and anemia due to blood loss from any cause.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 cap daily.
Special Precautions
Hemobion may cause blackening of stool.
