Esomeprazole
Indications/Uses
GERD in patients w/ esophagitis &/or severe reflux symptoms. Stomach ulcers related to NSAID therapy. For maintenance of hemostasis in the short term & therapy to prevent recurrence of bleeding in patients undergoing therapeutic endoscopy for acute bleeding or duodenal ulcers.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IV inj 5 mL of reconstituted soln injected for at least 3 min. IV infusion Given for 10-30 min. Patient w/ liver impairment Max: 20 mg.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Atazanavir, nelfinavir.
Special Precautions
Pregnancy & lactation.

Hematology & lymphatic system disorders; immune system disorders; metabolism & nutrition disturbance; mental disorder; CNS disorder; vision disturbances; resp & mediastinum disorder; liver & biliary obstruction; skin & subcutaneous tissue disorders; musculoskeletal disorder; urinary & renal obstruction; reproduction & breast disturbances; common disorders.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant use w/ cisapride, atazanavir, nelfinavir, rifampicin, St. John's wort.
