Flunarizine
Indications/Uses
Migraine prophylaxis; treatment & prophylaxis of vestibular, peripheral & cerebral vascular disorders.
Dosage/Direction for Use
5-10 mg daily. Adult >65 yr 5 mg daily at night, <65 yr Initially 10 mg daily. Maintenance treatment: 5-day treatment/wk. Discontinue after 2 mth if there is no significant improvement. Duration of treatment: 6 mth.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Depression, Parkinson's disease, concomitant β-blocker therapy.
Special Precautions
Hypotension. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Fatigue, drowsiness, wt gain, increased appetite.
Drug Interactions
Hypnotics or tranquilizers, alcohol.
