Indications/Uses
Loss of consciousness due to brain injury, head trauma or brain surgery & cerebral infarction. Accelerated upper limb rehabilitation in post apoleptic hemiplegia patients w/ relatively mild lower limb paralysis presenting w/in 1 yr & rehabilitated & given usual oral drug therapy.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IV Loss of consciousness due to head trauma or brain surgery 100-500 mg, 1-2 times daily. Psychological or nervous disorders in cases of impaired consciousness in acute cerebral infarction 1,000 mg once daily for 2 consecutive wk. Post-hemiplegia apopletic cases 1,000 mg once a day for 4 consecutive wk, if improvement is seen, continue for another 4 wk.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Co-administer w/ drugs that work as brain pressure or antihemorrhagia & keep body temp low in acute & severe situations. Avoid giving high doses (>500 mg at a time) if intracranial bleeding still occurs.
Adverse Reactions
Rash, insomnia, headache, dizziness, convulsions. Nausea, anorexia. Abnormal liver function values in lab tests. Diplopia. Warm sensation, temporary BP changes or malaise.
