Type 2 DM particularly in overwt patients, when dietary management & exercise alone does not result in adequate glycaemic control. May cause hypoglycemia w/ sulfonylureas, insulin, β-blockers or ACE inhibitors. Alcohol & IV iodinated contrast media may cause lactic acidosis. Glucocorticoids & diuretics.
