Clomiphene citrate
Indications/Uses
Female infertility due to oligomenorrhoea or secondary amenorrhoea. Increases spermatogenesis in male patients w/ oligospermia.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Anovulatory infertility 1 tab daily for 5 days starting on the 5th day of the menstrual cycle. If no ovulation occurs, a 2nd course of 1 tab twice daily for 5 days may be given. Oligospermia 1 tab daily for 40-90 days.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Abnormal uterine bleeding, ovarian enlargement, thyroid or adrenal dysfunction, patients w/ liver disease or a history of liver dysfunction, organic intracranial lesion (eg, pituitary tumor). Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Possibility of multiple pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Reversible ovarian enlargement, abdominal discomfort or pain, nausea, vomiting, transient visual disturbances, headache, abnormal uterine bleeding, dizziness, fatigue, insomnia, vertigo.
