Per L Na 100 meq, Cl 90 meq, K 18 meq, Ca 4 meq, Mg 6 meq, acetate 38 meq, (NaCl 3.624 g, KCl 1.342 g, Ca chloride 0.294 g, Mg hydroxide 0.61 g, Na acetate 5.172 g, water for inj 1,000 mL). Osmolarity: 525 mOsm. Energy: 200 kCal
Indications/Uses
Restoration of carbohydrate, fluid & electrolyte requirements in pre-, intra- & post-op phases, isotonic dehydration & extracellular fluid loss. Vehicle soln.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Individualized dosage. Infusion rate: 30 mL/kg/day.
Contraindications
Kidney failure, fructose & sorbitol intolerance, fructose 1,6-diphosphatase deficiency, methyl alcohol poisoning. Shock therapy.
Special Precautions
Hyperkalemia & hyperhydration; CHF, acute kidney failure; edema w/ Na retention.
Adverse Reactions
Febrile response, venous thrombosis or phlebitis extending from inj site, extravasation & hypervolemia.
