Meloxicam
Indications/Uses
OA & musculoskeletal disorders.
Dosage/Direction for Use
OA 7.5 mg/day, may be increased to 15 mg/day. RA 15 mg/day, may be reduced to 7.5 mg/day.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ meals if GI discomfort occurs.
Contraindications
GI or cerebrovascular haemorrhage, asthma, active peptic ulcer, severe renal insufficiency. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <15 yr.
Special Precautions
Upper GIT disease, dehydration. Concomitant anticoagulant or diuretic therapy.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbances, anemia, skin rash, pruritus, headache, oedema.
Drug Interactions
NSAIDs, oral anticoagulant eg, heparin; ticlopidine, thrombolytics, MTX, lithium, antihypertensives, cyclosporine.
