Cefixime
Indications/Uses
Uncomplicated UTI, otitis media, acute bronchitis & acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, pharyngitis & tonsillitis, gonococcal & gynecological infections. Typhoid fever.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Cap Adult & childn ≥ 30 kg 50-100 mg twice daily. May be increased to 200 mg twice daily. Gonococcal infection 400 mg single dose. Syr Childn 1.5-3 mg/kg twice daily. May be increased to 6 mg/kg twice daily.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Special Precautions
Hypersensitivity to penicillin. Bronchial asthma, rash, urticaria w/ serious renal function disorder, poor oral nutrition. Vit K deficiency. History of colitis. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Hypersensitivity reactions, GI disturbances, shock, dizziness & headache, genital pruritus, vaginitis, thrombocytopenia, granulocytopenia, stomatitis, candidiasis.
