Elemental Fe 100 mg, folic acid 0.35 mg
Indications/Uses
Patient w/ Fe deficiency w/o anemia & Fe deficiency anemia & for prevention of Fe & folic acid deficiency in the period before, during, & after pregnancy & during breastfeeding.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Symptoms of Fe deficiency 1 tab 2-3 times daily. Latent Fe deficiency & prevention of Fe & folic acid deficiency 1 tab daily.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Take during or immediately after meal.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Excess Fe or disorders in Fe utilization & anemia that are not caused by Fe deficiency (eg, haemolytic anemia).
Special Precautions
Anemia therapy should always be under the supervision of a doctor. Reconsider treatment if an increase in Hb of about 2-3 g/dL after 3 wk is not achieved.
Drug Interactions
Decreased absorption of parenteral Fe prep. Increased phenytoin metabolism resulting in decreased conc of phenytoin in blood, especially in patients w/ folic acid deficiency.
