Sertraline HCl
Indications/Uses
Treatment of symptoms of depression in patients w/ or w/o a history of mania. Prevention of relapse of initial episode of depression or recurrence of further depressive episodes.
Dosage/Direction for Use
50 mg daily as a single dose. May be increased in 50 mg increments to a max of 200 mg daily over a period of weeks. Maintenance: Max 150 mg for periods exceeding 8 wk.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Special Precautions
Hepatic insufficiency; ECT, unstable epilepsy. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, diarrhoea, dyspepsia; tremor, dizziness, headache; insomnia; somnolence; increased sweating; dry mouth; male sexual dysfunction (primarily ejaculatory delay).
Drug Interactions
MAOIs & centrally-active drugs (caution).
