Fluoxetine HCl
Indications/Uses
Depression.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Initially 20 mg daily in the morning. Doses >20 mg daily may be administered 1-2 times daily. Max: 80 mg daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Unstable epilepsy. Concurrent administration w/ MAOI. Severe renal failure (GFR <10 mL/min). Lactation. Childn.
Special Precautions
Discontinue in patients who develop seizures. Controlled epilepsy. Underwt patients. Diabetes. MI. May impair ability to drive & operate machinery. Hepatic & renal impairment. Pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Asthenia, fever, nausea, vomiting, headache, nervousness, drowsiness, pharyngitis, skin rash, urticaria; dry mouth, diarrhoea, dyspepsia, insomnia; decreased pulse rate, bradycardia, extrapyramidal reaction & akathisia.
Drug Interactions
CNS active drugs eg, lithium. Tryptophan, diazepam, insulin or sulfonylurea.
