Amoxicillin trihydrate 575 mg (equiv to amoxicillin 500 mg), clavulanate K 309 mg (equiv to clavulanic acid 125 mg)
Indications/Uses
Upper & lower resp tract, GUT, skin & soft tissue, bone & joint, tooth infections & other infections (ie, abortion sepsis, puerperal sepsis, intra-abdominal sepsis).
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >12 yr Mild to moderate infections 1 caplet 312.5 mg 3 times daily. Severe infections 1 caplet 625 mg 3 times daily. Tooth infections 1 caplet 312.5 mg 3 times daily for 5 days. Childn Usual dose: 30 mg/kg/day in divided doses 8 hrly.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to penicillins. Newborn babies born from mother w/ hypersensitivity to penicillin or its derivatives. History of cholestatic jaundice.
Special Precautions
High dose or prolonged use may cause superinfections. Severe liver disorders. Adjust dose in patients w/ moderate or severe kidney dysfunction.
Adverse Reactions
Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, pseudomembranous colitis & candidiasis. Slight increase in AST &/or ALT. Hepatitis & cholestatic jaundice. Urticaria & erythematous rashes. Erythema multiforme, SJS, TEN, exfoliative dermatitis. Angioedema & anaphylaxis. Interstitial nephritis. Transient leucopenia, thrombocytopenia, hemolytic anemia.
Drug Interactions
May reduce efficacy of OC. May increase bleeding time & prothrombin time in patients receiving anticoagulants.
