Loperamide HCl
Indications/Uses
Acute & chronic diarrhea.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Acute diarrhea Adult Initially 2 caplet followed by 1 caplet after each loose stool. Chronic diarrhea As for acute diarrhea. Adjust until 1-2 solid stools/day are obtained. Max: 8 caplet/day.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
When inhibition of peristalsis is to be avoided. Hepatic impairment. Childn <12 yr.
Special Precautions
Fever.
Adverse Reactions
Dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, constipation.
Drug Interactions
May influence GI absorption of some drugs.
