Salbutamol sulfate
Indications/Uses
Bronchospasm in any variety of bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >12 yr ½-1 caplet 3-4 times daily. Childn 6-12 yr ½ caplet 3-4 times daily.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 1 hr before or 2 hr after meals.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ thyrotoxicosis, HTN, CV disorders, hyperthyroidism, DM. Childn <2 yr. Pregnancy, lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Large dose may cause fine tremor in skeletal muscle, palpitation, muscle spasm, tachycardia, headache, tension. Nervousness, hyperactivity, epistaxis, insomnia.
Drug Interactions
β2 antagonist. W/ MAOIs may cause severe HTN. Non-selective β-blocker eg, propranolol.
