Ranitidine
Indications/Uses
Short-term treatment, maintenance therapy after recovery of active gastric, duodenal ulcer. Symptomatic relief of reflux esophagitis. Pathologic hypersecretory state (eg, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome & systemic mastocytosis).
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Active duodenal ulcer 150 mg twice daily or 300 mg once daily for 4-8 wk. Active gastric ulcer 150 mg twice daily for 2 wk. Maintenance therapy after recovery of duodenal/peptic ulcer 150 mg. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome & systemic mastocytosis 150 mg twice daily. Max: 6 g. GERD 150 mg twice daily. Chronic esophagitis 150 mg 4 times daily. Maintenance & recovery of abrasive esophagitis 150 mg twice daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Symptomatic response does not prevent onset of gastric malignancy. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Headache.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant use w/ warfarin may increase or decrease prothrombin time.
