Fluticasone furoate
Indications/Uses
Symptomatic treatment of allergic rhinitis in patients ≥2 yr.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & adolescent ≥12 yr Initially 2 sprays in each nostril once daily. Maintenance dose: 1 spray in each nostril once daily. Childn 2-11 yr Initially 1 spray in each nostril once daily, may be increased to 2 sprays in each nostril, then 1 spray in each nostril once adequate control of symptoms is achieved. Intranasal route only.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Not recommended in concomitant use w/ ritonavir. Systemic effects particularly at high doses for prolonged periods. Potential systemic steroid effects including ocular changes eg, central serous chorioretinopathy. Adrenal suppression w/ treatment higher than the recommended dose. Impaired adrenal function. Closely monitor patients w/ changes in vision or history of increased IOP, glaucoma &/or cataracts. May cause nasal mucosa irritation. Pregnancy & lactation. Maintain lowest dose for childn due to reduction in growth velocity. Childn <2 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Epistaxis. Nasal ulceration; headache.
Drug Interactions
Small increase in exposure w/ ketoconazole.
