Procaterol HCl hemihydrate
Indications/Uses
Relieves various symptoms caused by resp obstructive disturbances due to bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis & pulmonary emphysema.
Dosage/Direction for Use
10 mL 1-2 times daily. Childn ≥6 yr 5 mL (1 tsp) 1-2 times daily, <6 yr 0.25 mL/kg 1-2 times daily.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Hyperthyroidism. HTN, heart disease, DM. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Anaphylactic shock, palpitation, tachycardia, nausea, vomiting, tremor, headache, rash, pruritus.
Drug Interactions
May increase serum levels of digoxin. Reduction of insulin dose or antidiabetic drugs may be needed. May prolong QT interval & increase risk of ventricular arrhythmias w/ drugs that have the potential to induce cardiac arrhythmias eg, metfloquine. Antiepileptic drug activity may be disrupted. May increase side effects w/ MTX. Increased levels of cyclosporine.
