Indications/Uses
Alternative therapy in GERD patients w/ esophagitis &/or severe reflux symptoms when PO is not possible.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Bolus inj dose: 40 mg & 20 mg. IV Infusion dose: 40 mg & 20 mg.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to esomeprazole or benzimidazole derivatives.
Special Precautions
Possibility of malignancy should be ruled out if significant wt loss, repetitive vomiting, dysphagia, hematemesis or melena & gastric ulcer is suspected.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, flatulence, nausea/vomiting, constipation.
Drug Interactions
Reduced intragastric acidity during treatment may increase or decrease absorption of drugs if the absorption mechanism is influenced by level of gastric acidity.
