Lidocaine HCl monohydrate
Indications/Uses
Topical local analgesia prior to venipuncture in adults. Topical local analgesia prior to venipuncture or peripheral IV cannulation in childn 3-18 yr.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply 1 Zingo to the site planned for venipuncture or IV cannulation, 1-3 min prior to needle insertion. Use only on intact skin. 1 additional application at a new location is acceptable after a failed attempt at venous access.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to lidocaine or to local anesth of the amide type.
Special Precautions
Do not use around the eyes; on body orifices, mucous membranes or on areas w/ compromised skin barrier. Increased risk of developing toxic lidocaine plasma conc in patients w/ severe hepatic disease or pseudocholinesterase deficiency. Increased risk of superficial dermal bleeding in patients w/ bleeding tendencies or platelet disorders. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Application site reaction. Adult: Dizziness. Ped: Nausea, vomiting.

Potential additive toxicities w/ other local anesth.
